9. Mood

Studies have shown meal patterns influence mood in general. Fasting specifically encourages a good mood by raising norepinephrine and dopamine levels. Intermittent fasting also controls blood sugar levels and insulin, eradicating feelings of being “hangry” - that angry feeling you get when blood sugar levels drop and you don’t want to talk to anyone because you MUST EAT SOMETHING NOW. A 2014 study looking at non-diabetic adults found fluctuating blood sugar levels were actually associated with anger: high blood sugar levels made it difficult to control anger. The study even suggested anger may be a risk factor for diabetes.
